We can’t be in command of our lives if we don’t control our desires. If you don’t actively evaluate what you want, you will likely end up pursuing non-value-added desires without knowing why and wasting time.
Look with circumspect at the implications of your life’s desires and ask yourself what you are willing to pay to reach your desires? Every desire has its price: remember there is no such thing as a “free lunch”.
This week, focus on taking control of your desires. A couple of strategies that you can use this week to take ownership of your desires are listed below:
Make a list of behaviors you participate in that results in some form of dysfunction, and write down your explanation of why you engage in this behavior. Why are you motivated by this dysfunction?
What is the impact of this behavior? What might happen as a result of your behavior?
Make a list of things you can do immediately to change the dysfunctional behavior.
Layout a plan in how you will make and sustain your identified changes.
