One person’s plan, can be another person’s nightmare….Whenever, you give up control of the decision making activities pertaining to your life, you are essentially living by someone else’s plan.
In any good plan there are cost, time, and the quality of expected outputs from efforts. Of these three components, the most valuable component when is comes to life is time. Each person on the planet has 24 hours a day to use as they wish.
Looking at these 24 hours over the course of a week would suggest that everyone has 168 hours weekly. Let’s say 40 hours are consumed by work and 56 hours by sleep this leaves a balance of 72 hours per week to use as you wish… about 10 hours a day under this planning model….
Why is the standard work week 40 hours?
Well, in the 18th century – Yes, the 18th century, companies started maximizing the output of factories, running factories to produce output 24/7 was desired in order to increase production efficiency. In that period 10-16 hours were normal for work periods which at the time was believed to be an unsustainable work model. So recognizing this challenge earlier, Robert Owen developed and introduced a work model which consisted of 8 hours for labor, 8 hours for recreation, and 8 hours for rest. Mr. Owen’s model was adopted by Henry Ford in 1914. Ford implemented the Owen’s model in addition to doubling the worker’s pay in the process which resulted in increased productivity and doubling Ford’s profit margins within 2 years. Other companies at the time adopted the model and it remains to this day…
Life under one person’s plan…. Is it a night mare for you? How are you using your 10 hours per day? How can you use more of your time to your benefit?
You have one life to live…..why not work toward living it under your model and plan?
